Here is a set of terms related to corporate real estate, in alphabetical order.  Since it will be slow-going as I populate the glossary, I’ve also provided a link to Jack Saltman’s Commercial Real Estate Dictionary.  If you have additional terms to suggest, feel free to comment below or email me directly.

  • Circulation – the space in an office to allow circulation of employees 
  • Loss Factor – the percentage difference between the area of rentable square footage (RSF) and usable square footage (USF).  This includes common area corridors, mechanical closets, walls and support columns.
  • NAIOP – abbrev. National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (website)
  • ROWE – abbrev. results-only work environment, a program originated at Best Buy that has been spun off as a subsidiary to consult other firms on increasing efficiency by providing a more flexible work environment (website)
